A Tale in 3 Parts

I’m minding my business, going to the doctor. As one does. I didn’t know when I scheduled this appointment that it would be when Mars was squaring my ascendant. I took whatever appointment they had because duh.

1️⃣ TF IS THE ASCENDANT??

Houses in a birth chart look like little pie pieces😋

They represent the areas of life we all have, go through and grow through.

The ascendant is the most personal part of the chart. It is ALWAYS in the 1H.

1H / ascendant stuff is about the self, the personality, the body
what we want to be known for, what we are motivated to be
when you read horoscopes, reading for your sun sign is fine, but reading for your rising sign is gonna hit better

For the sake of our story, we’re going to focus on the ascendant representing the aspect of self that is the physical body.

2️⃣ AND A TRANSIT IS??

Your birth chart is your birth chart, that never changes. The planets in the sky, however, never stop moving. As they move around the sky, through the signs of the zodiac, they ping planets on your birth chart - a transit.

Some transits are considered trickier than others, just as some planets are trickier than others. Typically we like Jupiter and Venus stuff and groan at Saturn and Mars stuff.

Mars is the planet of aggression and conflict. It is a sharp tool or weapon. It feels like being bold, brave and maybe even a little foolhardy. Loud and fast.

3️⃣ MARS SQUARES MY ASCENDANT

Squares are tense. They apply pressure and irritation. It’s a challenging situation.

A square is Mars’ signature move. It’s really good at applying pressure and irritating. It loves getting through a challenging situation.

Our story unfolds…

Mars is retrograde (you may groan). It’s moving backward through Leo. Mars retrograde squares my ascendant and I go to the doctor. Little check up. Little blood work. No big deal.

TELL ME WHY

By the time the nurse has the tape stuff tightly around my arm, a child is dragged into the lab?? Kicking, screaming, flailing child. (for the record I don’t blame this kid, I was once them. needed my dad and a couple nurses for a round of vaccines stg)

When you’re trying to find the zen in the patterns of the tile beneath your feet, think about anything other than the imminent, a kid’s meltdown will keep you from it.

Well, needless to say, it affected the nurse too. The first try didn’t take, go figure. We need to try the other arm. It took a minute. The child is now across the lab, still going through it. Pressure. It took like three tries.

Mars is the loud planet. The planet that punctures and pokes. It was squaring, creating a challenging or tense situation with my ascendant - my meat suit.

There is no lesson. Just an example. Mars exists. Sometimes irritating things happen. My point is look at the timing and the old ass archetypes. It can be really cool when you learn enough about astrology to pay attention to transits and the things that happen in certain pockets of time.
